If you travel in the alpine areas you will need to carry a properly fitting set of chains.


Just because you own a 4WD does not mean you won't need them. On the contrary, by the time you need them you will probably be a lot further in trouble than a 2WD!


The main thing to remember with alpine driving is to drive smoothly.


Avoid sudden stops and starts, and use the gears to control the vehicles speed rather than the brakes.


If you do begin to slide, steer into the slide and DO NOT hit the brakes.
