Stall starting
Stall starting
This technique is designed to help keep YOU in CONTROL
It sometimes looks less than elegant, but it allows you to have complete control of the vehicle. It is vital to have full control of the vehicle in difficult situations.
It works on the principle that the compression of the engine is a much better way to hold a car on a steep incline than the foot brake.
The natural reaction is to depress the clutch so the motor won't stall. Don't! Just let the motor stall, keeping your foot off the clutch!
Naturally, the brake is not totally useless, but this stalling technique should become second nature, so that when the situation becomes more serious, it will be natural reaction.
Climbing long steep hills can be done safely if you’re using the right techniques.
