The environment

Sadly, many places we used to visit are now shut to 4WD access. Sometimes the reasons are obvious and sensible, other times it is difficult to understand why.

We have a big responsibility to look after this bush we enjoy so much.

Much of Australia's recent history and exploration would not have been possible without 4WDs. (Indeed the Toyota Landcruiser was probably one of the most important motor vehicles in Australia, in terms of opening up the outback).

Because of this ability to get into fairly remote places, it is vitally important that we all understand the responsibility that goes with this ability.

TAKE NOTHING BUT PHOTOGRAPHS

LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOTPRINTS

The rules for looking after the bush are simple common sense.

Don't tear up tracks.

Wheel spin and wet tracks are bad news.

Think about the track when it dries out.

Don't chop down trees. They belong there more than we do.

Don't leave your rubbish, or burn it, or bury it. Carry it home in a bag.

Leave wildlife alone.

National Parks do not allow dogs, and firearms are strictly prohibited.

Our choice of vehicle opens up some amazing locations and experiences for us but we must be more active in keeping areas in good condition and accessible.
